John Williams is undoubtedly one of the greatest composers of our time. His medium? Film scores. But he has had the greatest fortune to be able to work with the best filmmakers and thus indelibly affect popular culture. His soundtracks have given us the mnemonic devices to bring back films like Jaws, Superman, Star Wars, Indian Jones, and the list goes on.
Probably the most famous score, at least from a kids’ point of view, is Harry Potter. Hedwig’s Theme is actually the music for the owl, but everyone just calls it the Harry Potter Theme. It is originally written in E minor, but for beginning piano students, A minor is a bit easier to play and to read on the staff.
